Well, first off Brian, with a teensy weensy bit of research done by googling Huckabee one can find a myriad of reasons to avoid voting for the guy. For one, he raised taxes so much in Arkansas that the average family of four has to slave another $1,100 a years worth to pay the Arkansas vampire system. And apparently Mike Huckabee has the dubious honor of making it to Judicial Watches 2007 Most corrupt politicians top 10 list along with 3 other candidates. Hillary, Obama and Guliani have the "honor" too. In the list of candidates I find one man who is SO honorable that the main stream media blacklisted him 3 days prior to Iowa and many media outlets don't even mention his name. I was out voting and a lady asked me about him thinking he had dropped out! No, I told her, there is some dirty game playing going on and the media makes you think he is out because they NEVER mention him except in a negative way. Why is that? Because he actually ADHERES to his oath of office? Because he actually will DO what he says and not flip flop flip flop flip flop am I sounding like I am repeating myself? He NEVER voted to raise taxes. He has ALWAYS voted for a balanced budget. He has NEVER voted to stifle your right to be able to defend yourself. He has NEVER voted for a pay raise. He has always returned a portion of his congressional office budget BACK to the treasury. He voted AGAINST regulating the internet. He voted AGAINST the illegal unjustified war in Iraq. He wants to bring our troops HOME to guard our borders and he wants to put an END to the illegal alien problem. He wants to END the IRS. He wants to give us back sound money and let US decide if we want to join Social Security or not...OH...YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ALL THE TRUTH ABOUT DR. RON PAUL? Why am I NOT surprised?

I am rather conflicted over the Republican field. I like Fred Thompson the best. I also like that Romney and Huckabee have administrative experience.

I am very distrustful of McCain. For an article that talks, among other things, his appearance on Fox News Sunday with Mike Wallace where they discussed illegal immigration and social security, see http://www.pointcounterpointbook.com/pdf/illegals&socialsecurity.pdf

Anyone knowlegable on Mccain?

I agree with Monica, it was great to see the evangelicals flex their muscles, but they won't win this election on their own.

They won't beat Hillary unless they are joined by establishment convervatives. The Reagen strategy involved a lot more than just evangelicals remember.

John Mccain is the man that I believe can beat Hillary. And for me that's the biggest issue of all.

As for Greg, frankly you scare me. It's fundy legalists like you that make eveangelicalism a joke instead of an orthodoxy worth fighting for.

I do agree with you Brian. I believe a true conservative needs to be well rounded. But at the end of the day when I make my choice. There are some areas that are not negotiable for me. Life/Family and the security of our country are the no brainers. That is how I will cast my vote. I really appreciate you doing the research on this. You brought so many things to light. I think everyone needs to read it!!
You know... it was exhilarating to me to watch the Evangelicals flex their muscles in Iowa. I think we are going to see HUGE things this election!!!!

Thanks!

Brian,

I too have had the various concerns you mention about Mr. Huckabee. However, the more I study the man, the more concened I get. Follow this link and read what this home educating dad says: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/whitinger1.html.

One of the shocking things to me was his paragraph about Huckabee's rock band, "Huckabee is a member of a music band called "Capitol Offense." Would Jesus form a band? If he did, would he name it something like that? According to the band's website, they formed it because of their "love of ... classic rock-n-roll." Where is the gravity and sobriety that Titus chapter 2 calls for in an older man? It's not a gospel music band, either. It is a cover band with a set list including songs such as "Born to be wild," the highly sexually charged "Devil with a Blue Dress," "Freebird, "Honky Tonk Woman, and other similarly ungodly songs. Go read the lyrics to Honky Tonk Woman (it's offensive) and imagine the pastor of your church singing that song. If a leader in my church formed a band to play that kind of music, I would call that a very serious problem. And we call him a man of character?"

And, check out this link: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/homeschoolers/compared-to-other-candidates/

I don't trust Huckabee for many reasons. Recently I saw him on YouTube taking a call from "God" that was irreverent.

The more I learn about him, the less I like him.
