“Posterity, you will never know what it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom, I hope you will make good use of it.”–John Q. Adams

This election is the most important election of our lifetime and the choices that we are faced with could not be more clear. As the election looms, we need to carefully assess what we’re doing and then do everything we can to elect solid candidates to offices across the nation.

On the national level we have a presidential candidate who is the most Marxist and most socialist candidate ever to run on a major party ticket. Barack Obama is running as a moderate agent of change, but beneath the chameleon rhetoric of his stump speech is change that is not worth having.

Opposing Barack Obama is Senator John McCain and his running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. Senator McCain is not perfect and we have had our disagreements with him. But Senator McCain is not promoting a radical agenda that would emasculate our national defense, destroy our economy, turn our country into a wholly socialist state, promote the unrestrained slaughter of unborn children, eliminate parental rights, and redistribute wealth on a scale unseen in our history.

The choice in the presidential race is clear: John McCain is the only candidate who shares some of our key values and can stop Barack Obama.

But it is not just the presidential race that should concern us. Congressional and state level races also matter a great deal. Our nation is in economically and socially challenging times, our ability to defend ourselves seems to be an open question with some, and many of the things that we hold dear will be debated in Congress and the state legislatures over the next two years.

This election is about nothing less than the survival of freedom and the success of liberty. Those that oppose these values and wish for us to settle for the mandated mediocrity and bondage of the socialist state offer us an easy way out of doing our part. By simply doing nothing we can quietly surrender our beliefs and our principles to the all-knowing governance of a liberal elite. But surrender is not an option if the American experiment is to go forward.

We need to stand up for what we believe in. Our principles, our values, our beliefs are worth fighting for and they are being challenged today! The very essence of our country and the very substance of our freedom must be defended. Stand up for what you believe in, fight for what you hold dear, throw yourself into the battle that is raging for the future of your country.

We must not stand idly by while others wrench away our liberty from us. The other side fights for the moment; we battle for the ages. Get involved today; volunteer for a campaign, contribute to a candidate, and tell your neighbors, your co-workers, your fellow church members who you are voting for and why they should join you in voting for candidates that are pro-life, pro-family, pro-free market, and believe in a strong national defense.

Let it not be said that era of liberty passed on our watch or that the torch of freedom went dim during our time.
